Mexchic creates objects with integrity, hovering in the realm of conceptual and artistic, designed in-house then hand-made by only the most talented Mexican artisans, using centuries old techniques in limited editions. Collectable works seeped in Mexican tradition while also contemporary and personal.
Mexchic’s collections are research-based which merge designer Christina Hattler’s aesthetics, love of archeology, anthropology and textiles with her personal experiences of having lived in Mexico for over 15 years. Inspiration comes primarily from Mexico’s rich cultural heritage, Indigenous cultures, art, architecture and ceremonial traditions. Christina lives and works in Oaxaca, Southern Mexico
In creating locally hand made textiles and findings made directly with artisans, using natural vegetable non-toxic dyes to create color and pattern, in addition to working in collaboration with surrounding farming communities and foundations supporting regenerative and fiber shed types of relationships, we are able to locally, ethically and sustainable procure the majority of materials necessary to create our products.
Innovation, sustainability, community, education and collaboration are our core driving principles.
We are quickly transitioning to offer the majority of our goods in a made-to-order capacity to cut down on waste. Since we live and work where we produce our textiles, we can offer an unusually quick turn around time of 2-3 weeks depending on the order and product. We also offer bespoke, made-to-order services for clothing, home wares and other goods.
