Ocala Collection

Ocala is a 4 piece micro-collection made with a beautiful heavy-weight handwoven cotton textile designed in collaboration with artisans in Oaxaca, Mexico. Hand woven on a pedal loom, expertly cut and sewn with French seam interiors in our Mexchic studio, available in 4 color ways. Along with exquisite ceramic buttons designed and hand crafted by ceramic duo Evelyn Alarcón and Boris Furlan of Sitio Serendipia.

Ocala is a town in Central Florida where we’d frequently go in the 1980’s to see family. Large swaths of time were spent amongst its quiet rolling hills and most excitingly hanging out in the back of our grandfather’s hardware/animal feed store atop giant bales of hay watching the Levis clad cowboys conduct business. Boot cut jeans with matching jackets, sturdy leather boots and felted cowboy hats. Women donned polyester pant suits from the 60’s and 70’s, hair up in wispy cotton candy colored bouffants. This collection is a mash up of memories blended with the incredible artisanal craft of Oaxaca. The buttons Evelyn and Boris made were inspired by David Bowie and the shapes of his intergalactic outfits from the 1970’s.
