MATERIALS & PROCESS
Chakras are specific points of energy within our bodies and at times they can become blocked by stress. One way to unblock or open them is to practice slow deep breathing, while visualizing a certain color and focusing on a particular chakra as to release interior tension and reconnect your spiritual alignment. I wanted to develop a lightweight blanket which could also be worn as a kind of cape of protection, a textile you can use at home to cover you while you sleep, or to wrap around you while meditating and cleansing your chakras, a pashmina to warm your shoulders when you are outside the home or cover you while traveling on a plane. It folds up tiny to keep inside a purse and expands open wide enough to cover the length of a king size bed. The pillows are sold without insert, and can be sat upon for meditation, laid out on a sofa or bed.
The Chakra Collection is created from a handwoven native costal Oaxacan cotton, which was regeneratively grown with natural rainfall and amongst traditional seasonal corn and bean plantings. After the cotton is harvested it is then hand spun on a Ghandi Charkha wheel, naturally dyed and then handwoven. Each piece is made in a specific “vibrating” energetic color matched with semi-precious gems which are hand embroidered upon it. These magical colors are created using a complex palette of natural dyes, meaning natural materials which are locally foraged/sourced and created with centuries old recipes passed down through each generation of a weaver’s family, tightly guarded secrets. The gems are then hand embroidered onto the cotton textile in our studio.

HEART CHAKRA - Forrest Green with Clear Crystal Quartz:
Located near your heart, in the center of your chest, its energy is focused on love and compassion. The color green symbolizes new beginnings, abundance and nature and the clear quartz embroidered upon it focuses on balance, harmonizing and stabilizing one's environment and is helpful in romantic relationships. It is said to amplify healing energy.
SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA - Ochre Yellow with Deep Red Garnets:
Located in your stomach area balancing confidence and self-esteem, as well as helping you feel in control of your life. The color yellow symbolizes happiness and hope, optimism and the sun. The hand embroidered garnets represent vitality, energy, and passion. It is also believed to bring emotional balance, self-confidence, and protection against negative energies.
LUZ BLANCO - Natural White with Translucent Green Peridots
White light is the space within the universe that houses positive energies. White light can be called upon by anyone for assistance, healing, and protection. Traditionally the color white is associated with truth and purity, cleansing, healing and protection. It is a good general healing color for the removal of pain and suffering. The translucent green gem Peridot´s energy brings good health, restful sleep and peace to relationships by balancing emotions and mind also inspiring eloquence and creativity; happiness, love, riches and wealth are associated with its clear green color.
